Took forever to get back to me and when they did schedule a call they didn’t call. Trying to call back on the hours they say a live clerk is available but I just get an automated message. The other reviews mention the same thing. I know it’s a free service but if they are no longer active they should say so, this is delaying people getting help.

I was scheduled a consultation almost 2 weeks ago and no one ever called. I called them the next business day after the consultation was missed, and was quickly told that the attorney would reschedule, without the receptionist taking my name or anything. Then a week passed, I called again and let them know no was has been into touch. This time they got my name and said the attorney would be in touch. Fast forward to almost two weeks later no one has yet reached out.

I’m extremely disappointed with Houston Volunteer Lawyers. Despite numerous attempts to contact them over the course of several months, I have never received a callback, response, or any form of assistance. This has been deeply frustrating, especially when you’re reaching out in times of real legal need and hoping for support from a service that presents itself as a free resource to the community. From my experience, this organization appears completely unresponsive and non-functional. It feels as though this “service” is more of a front than an actual resource for those in need—there is no accountability, no communication, and absolutely no follow-through. I am completely unhopeful about getting efficient help here. It appears that 9 out 10 clients don't get promised return calls or even initial calls answered. There are overwhelming broken promises from a legal organization. If this is true, please refer this organization to the Bar Association. This organization can be dismantled for their inefficient practices. It seems as though the organization is understaffed; not prepared to handle the volume of its customer base. This should have been corrected or dismantled a long time ago. My goodness people. This is not supposed to be our Houston's reputation for attorneys/lawyers/staff would wan
