Legal Aid of North Carolina-Wilmington office

New Hanover County is unlike any other place I have ever lived or even visited for that matter. Yes it's beautiful & a magnificent little beach town with lots of history & outdoor activities. But local government & government programs do as they please & play by their own rules. To put it in the nicest way possible, the general atmosphere that they create is that they can't be bothered & are slightly bitter that these programs even exist.. To put it nicely.. 🙄

The help is fantastic and the staff are terriffic. Silly l know, but my rub was with the bathroom. I am handicapped. For us it was a VERY long walk to the office. Half way there was the bathroom for which you needed a key....looong corridor to the office then a long walk back. Must be a better way.

Highly teed off. I called 2x to see about getting someone to help me to get my disability which I've been trying since 2011 and denied. Went to 2 lawyers to help and I get lots of excuses. I had over the phone with the judge on May 22nd he put me off til August 5th. They haven't even had the nerve to return my calls.

Legal aid is no longer around. Their phones are off and no one is in office anymore. Finally got ahold of someone and they said they are out of funds and no longer operating

Roger M. Cook is a life saver and a brilliant attorney. He is open minded and willing to help those in true need, even beyond the call of duty. I cannot thank him and Legal Aid enough!!
