Southern Legal Counsel in Gainesville, FL truly changed my life. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the incredible support they provided during a very painful and stressful housing situation. My apartment complex refused to grant me a reasonable accommodation to break my lease, even after I submitted medical documentation showing my son’s severe disability and why we had to be out of state for his treatment. Instead of helping, the complex tried to take advantage of us they added unfair fees like carpet replacement and cleaning charges, despite the fact that I had lived there for over 15 years and left the apartment spotless. Tl;dr: Attorney representing SLC told me I had a case, and they’re going help me get my job back and ADA accommodations then SLC denied it. I was fired from my job because of disability discrimination. One attorney at SLC gave me a song and dance about how he’ll fight to get me reinstated at my old position and told me to go to their website and fill a form out. 3 weeks later another attorney from SLC and not the people I originally talked to called and told me SLC is refusing my case and they’re having a hard time finding another attorney who will take my case. To add insult to injury they still offered to keep looking on my behalf, as if they didn’t tell me earlier no one is probably going to take my case. I'm so grateful for Devin for acting swiftly on my case, even in the midst of being busy. It's very important to have as much legal documentation as possible to help the process go as smoothly as possible. Devin makes me feel heard. I know God has the ultimate control of this situation. These guys are amazing. They are fierce defenders of Floridians freedom. They work tirelessly and often thanklessly doing the work to fight bad and unconstitutional laws. I cannot say enough good about them.
