My cousin experience with this attorney was extremely unprofessional. He did very little work on his case. When he asked for an itemized invoice or documentation of what I paid for, he was refused. When he went to his office, he became hostile, told him to leave, and would not provide any paperwork.My cousin did not feel safe or respected. He continued to scream and yell at my cousin, claiming he had sent all documentation to his email! That was a lie he never sent anything at all!! Based on my cousin experience, I would not recommend hiring this attorney.”

Told my friend he would see me on a Monday, but that was a holiday so he did not show up for the first scheduled meeting. The lawyer set the date, not me. Shows up on Tuesday. Has me sign a form telling the system he was my lawyer, but the form has a different name on it. Not my paperwork. He crossed out the name and put my name in the spots. We could not get private room at first and he was OK talking out in the open without privacy. I needed about an hour with him and said we need a private room. Did not want to look for open room somewhere else cause we would have to walk. Finally got one. Never had me sign a contract saying he was my lawyer which is weird in the legal profession. I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with Attorneys Stephen Bernstein and Michael Thomas Ruppert. They were assigned to my friend's case and have done absolutely nothing of value. They consistently failed to return phone calls, ignored emails, and missed important deadlines. Weeks and even months have passed without any meaningful updates or action. What makes this worse is that other inmates have already seen their attorneys multiple times, while my friend—who is transgender—has been left waiting. It’s hard not to feel like their lack of urgency and attention is rooted in bias or discrimination. My friend deserves the same treatment and representation as anyone else, and that clearly hasn’t happened here. Their complete lack of professionalism and concern has caused real harm and
